Ingredients

  • 1 tspn cornstarch
  • 2 fl oz chicken stock
  • root ginger, finely chopped
  • ¼ tspn chili powder
  • 2 fl oz rice wine or pale dry sherry
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 lb lean sirloin steak, cut into 2" thin strips
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 small Chinese cabbage, shredded
Preparation & cooking instructions
  1. Combine cornstarch and stock. Add ginger, chili powder, rice wine or sherry and sugar and pour into a large shallow dish. Add beef strips, toss to coat, then cover and marinate for 1 hour at room temperature. Drain beef, reserving marinade
  2. Preheat wok, add beef and stir fry over high heat for 2 minutes. Add cabbage and stir fry for 1 minute, push meat and cabbage to the sides of the wok and add marinade to center. When marinade boils and thickens, toss with other ingredients for 1 minute
